The theme music from film and television westerns is some of the most memorable music ever written. My arrangement for solo acoustic lap steel was directly inspired by the brilliantly conceived TV Western Medley recorded in the 1980s by fingerstyle standard guitarist Guy Van Duser. Note: this is a revised version of the arrangement that appears in my book “18 Arrangements for Weissenborn & Dobro”.

The songs in this medley are: Red River Valley, Have Gun Will Travel, Rawhide, The Rifleman Theme, The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, The Magnificent Seven Theme, Hang ‘Em High, and High Noon (Do Not Forsake Me).

Note: Midi audio usually sounds closer to a keyboard than a steel guitar but it is useful for demonstrating the rhythms, feel and overall intent of an arrangement or musical passage. Make this music come alive on your steel guitar!
