REMINGTON RIDE was written by Herb Remington and Hank Penny and recorded by Penny’s band with Remington on Steel Guitar in 1950. Herbert Leroy Remington (1926–2018) was one of the steel guitar architects of the Western Swing sound and played with Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys from 1946 to 1949 and had a long career in music afterwards including consulting for Leo Fender’s steel guitars and later, designing and building his own line of “Remington Steel” brand of steel guitars.  His signature recordings include “Boot Heel Drag”, and “Remington Ride”, both of which have become standards for steel players. Remington recorded the song in his signature A6th tuning but it also works well in Open D for Dobro or Weissenborn.

Note: Midi audio usually sounds closer to a keyboard than a steel guitar but it is useful for demonstrating the rhythms, feel and overall intent of an arrangement or musical passage. Make this music come alive on your steel guitar!
