Richard Rogers composed “My Favorite Things” for the 1959 Broadway show “The Sound of Music” but it was made indelible in the minds of listeners the world over by Julie Andrews’ performance in the 1965 film of the same name.  John Coltrane played a fourteen-minute jazz version in E minor as the title track of his March 1961 LP. It became a jazz classic and a signature song for Coltrane in his concert performances.

I arranged the song’s melody in a combination of single notes, double stops and triads played over a bright, uptempo jazz waltz feel. It, of course, can be played at any tempo desired.
