It’s All in the Game is a pop song recorded by Tommy Edwards in 1958 and widely covered by performers as diverse as Merle Haggard, Van Morrison and Keith Jarrett. I was influenced by versions from Jarrett, R&B singer Eddie Holman and pedal steel great Bobbe Seymour to move the tune from its original 6/8 time to 4/4 time.
My arrangement is for the STANDARD DOBRO G TUNING WITH STRING #6 TUNED UP FROM D to E.
This gives us both a G chord on strings 1 -5 and an an Emin and Emin 7th chord on Strings 6-3. Dobro icon Mike Auldirge use this tuning and contemporary Alaskan Dobro and pedal steel master Greg Booth has made the tuning a mainstay of his playing.
