Composed By Joseito Fernandez. Arranged by Andy Volk, based on an arrangement by Nicola Mandorino. ”Guantanamera” in Spanish, means “Woman from Guantánamo” and is perhaps the best-known Cuban song and that country’s most-noted patriotic song.
The song lays out very well in Open D tuning and this arrangement is intended as a piece for solo acoustic lap steel guitar. The core repeating chord progression for the song is the key of D is: D, G, A7, D. The arrangement has very specifically-placed rests that give the song a syncopated feel.
