Adventures in paradise was an American television series created by James Michener which ran on ABC from 1959 until 1962. The theme music was composed by Hollywood film music legend Lionel Newman, who served as Senior Music Director for Twentieth Century Fox Films and was conductor and music supervisor for the series. It has been recorded by numerous artists, including Arthur Lyman, Santo & Johnny, and steel guitar legend, Jerry Byrd. Rather than the typical languid, tropical way this tune is often played, this arrangement in A6th tuning is coming from an up-tempo instrumental Surf Music perspective.

Note: Midi audio usually sounds closer to a keyboard than a steel guitar but it is useful for demonstrating the rhythms, feel and overall intent of an arrangement or musical passage. Make this music come alive on your steel guitar!
