This song is one of many live radio performances recorded in Hawaii sometime in the 1950s featuring the Hawaiian Village Serenaders live at the Tapa Room at Oahu’s Hawaiian Village. These legendary performances have been dubbed, as a collective, “The Tapa Room Tapes.” The performers included vocalist Alfred Apaka and Jules Ah See, one of Hawaii’s all-time greatest steel guitarists.

Jules Cryles Ah See (June 19, 1924 - June 12, 1960) was a Hawaiian steel guitarist and comedian born in Lahaina, Maui. He played with many legends of Hawaiian music including Pua Almeida, Alfred Apaka and Benny Kalama and was featured as a steel guitarist on the Hawaii Calls radio program. His steel playing combined a traditional Hawaiian feel with a potent feeling for swing. 

This transcription features Jules’ swinging improvised intro and solo on this classic Hapa Haole (literally, “half white”) tune.  Bars 17 - 48 are not a transcription of Jules’ playing, but a single note outline of the song’s melody.
