Vincent” is a song by Don McLean written as a tribute to Vincent van Gogh. It is often referenced by its opening lines, “Starry Starry Night”, a reference to Van Gogh’s 1889 painting “The Starry Night”.

My arrangement is in G/Em7 tuning - an easy variation on the standard G tuning for Dobro (low to high) G, B, D, G, B, D. This tuning was used by Dobro legend Mike Auldridge but has been perfected in the beautiful playing of Alaskan Dobroist Greg Booth, whose many videos on YouTube demonstrate his mastery of the G/Emin7 tuning and its power for chord melody arranging. Changing the bottom string from G to E opens up lots of harmonic possibilities while retaining almost all of the advantages of G tuning.
