SAND is an evocative and beautiful song written by pioneering Hawaiian lap steeler Andy Iona in the 1930’s. It has been a standard for Hawaiian steel guitarists ever since.

The B11th tuning is essentially a detuned version of the A6th tuning popularized by Leon McAuliffe and other Western Swing players. The top four open strings are identical to the A6th tuning. However, B11th also offers lower register, beautiful voicings of B dominant 7th, 9th and 11th chords.

Note: Midi audio usually sounds closer to a keyboard than a steel guitar but it is useful for demonstrating the rhythms, feel and overall intent of an arrangement or musical passage. Make this music come alive on your steel guitar!
