$3.50

ARRANGED FOR LAP STEEL IN STANDARD NOTATION & TABLATURE (audio sample below)

E9th Tuning (Low to High) D, E, F#, G#, B, E

T he E9th tuning is an easy change using the same string gauges as the standard C6th tuning. The character  of the open tuning and the key both change - from a 6th chord in the key of C, to a dominant 9th chord in the of key of E. You gain a major triad on the top three strings plus dominant 7th and 9th chords on the lower strings.

Jezebel features a cool mix of Middle-Eastern cliche’s with surf-style major chord licks. Its title refers to the wicked biblical Phoenician princess who ruled Israel as queen to King Ahab. It makes a killer surf instrumental and has been covered by many bands including The Illusions, studio guitarist Al Casey, and Australian steel guitarist Rob E. G., who took his instrumental version to the Australian top 5 in 1963. This arrangement was most influenced by the 1960s cover by rockabilly pioneer Cliff Gallup, the influential guitarist with Gene Vincent and his Blue Caps.

Note: Midi audio usually sounds closer to a keyboard than a steel guitar but it is useful for demonstrating the rhythms, feel and overall intent of an arrangement. This arrangement is intended as a blueprint for you to add your own ideas and creativity.
