ARRANGED FOR DOBRO, WEISSENBORN OR ACOUSTIC STEEL GUITAR. IN TABLATURE + STANDARD NOTATION (audio sample below).

Foggy Mountain Rock was composed by Dobro legended Buck “Josh” Graves along with Louise Certain and Gladys Stacey Flatt. The song was released on both LP and 45 rpm records by Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs & The Foggy Mountain Boys in 1959. It has since become a Bluegrass Dobro standard.

Open G tuning is the standard tuning for Dobro in Bluegrass music. It is a open G major chord.  The 3 high notes are identical to the 3 low notes, just one octave apart. Therefore, anything you play on the top 3 strings can be transferred to the low 3 strings.

G TUNING (6TH TO 1ST STRING):

Note: Midi audio usually sounds closer to a keyboard than an acoustic steel guitar but it is useful for demonstrating the melody, rhythms, feel and overall intent of an arrangement or musical passage. Make this music come alive on your Dobro, Weissenborn or electric steel guitar!
