Bluesette is a jazz standard, composed by the Belgian harmonica and guitarist Jean “Toots” Thielemans. It was composed in the key of B-flat major in 3/4 time and first recorded by Thielemans in 1961. Evan though the chord progression is based on a blues form (using substitute chords), Bluesette’s happy, carefree feeling is about as far from bluesy as you can get. This arrangement of the melody combines single notes with thirds and sixths. The arrangement also includes some alternate ways to play the song’s turn-around.
