Blue Hawaii was written by written by Leo Robin and Ralph Rainger for the 1937 movie “Waikiki Wedding”, starring Bing Crosby. Crosby recorded a version with backing by Lani McIntyre and His Hawaiians which was released as the B-side of his big hit, “Sweet Leilani.” This song is probably best known from the 1961 Elvis Presley film of the same name. This arrangement in the key of Bb is based on a classic version by Jerry Byrd mixed with my own ideas.

Note: Midi audio usually sounds closer to a keyboard than a steel guitar but it is useful for demonstrating the rhythms, feel and overall intent of an arrangement or musical passage. Make this music come alive on your steel guitar!
