AUTUMN LEAVES is a popular song and jazz standard composed by Joseph Kosma with original lyrics by Jacques Prévert in French. Johnny Mercer wrote the English lyric and gave it the title “Autumn Leaves”. Jazz historian Philippe Baudoin called the song “the most important non-American standard” and noted that it has been recorded about 1400 times by jazz musicians.My arrangement is a simple straightforward chord melody version. It should be considered a starting point as this song is wide open to both improvisation and reharmonization. It lays out quite well in C6th tuning.
