ARRANGED FOR LAP STEEL IN TABLATURE + STANDARD NOTATION (audio sample below)

T WILIGHT ON THE TRAIL is a beautiful cowboy ballad first recorded by Gene Autry in 1946. The song has been covered by a surprisingly diverse range of artists including Dean Martin, The Sons of the Pioneers, Rex Allen, Johnny Cash and Nat King Cole. It makes a very nice chord melody steel guitar instrumental and fits the C6th tuning like a musical glove.

C6th tuning is one of the most popular and versatile lap steel tunings in use today due to the wide range of available chord inversions available in the straight bar and slant positions and the logical way scale tones lie on adjacent strings. C6th is used in diverse genres of music including Western Swing, Jazz, Hawaiian, Blues, Pop,  Sacred music and melodic Rock & Roll. The notes of the tuning spell out both a C6th chord and an Amin7 chord, but the tuning is popularly called C6th.
