ARRANGED FOR LAP STEEL IN TABLATURE + STANDARD NOTATION (audio sample below)

Nalani was written by Alvin Isaacs, Sr., a composer, singer, musician, band leader and recording artist who composed more than 300 songs, many of which have become standards in Hawaiian music. His son, Alvin (Barney) Isaacs, Jr. was one of Hawaii’s greatest steel guitarists.

This arrangement in C6th tuning was highly influenced by an arrangement of the tune by contemporary Hawaiian steel master Alan Akaka.

C6th tuning is one of the most popular and versatile lap steel tunings in use today due to the wide range of  available chord inversions available in the straight bar and slant positions and the logical way scale tones lie on adjacent strings. The notes of the tuning spell out both a C6th chord and an Amin7 chord, but the tuning is popularly called C6th.
