Sleep Walk is an all-time favorite for both lap steel guitarists and audiences.  The song was written, recorded, and released in 1959 by brothers Santo & Johnny Farina, with their uncle Mike Dee playing the drums. The original recording was played in E13th tuning on a 3-neck Fender custom console steel guitar. My version is arranged for 6-string C6th tuning, and is more an interpretation of the song then an attempt to exactly transcribe how Santo played it. Santo’s sound may seem simple but try to reproduce it! His sound was so unique and beautiful that it still speaks to musicians more than 60 years after the song was recorded.

Note: Midi audio usually sounds closer to a keyboard than a steel guitar but it is useful for demonstrating the rhythms, feel and overall intent of an arrangement or musical passage. Make this music come alive on your steel guitar!
