NUAGES (BY Django Reinhardt) is one of jazz legend’s Django Reinhardt’s best known and loved  compositions. He recorded at least thirteen versions of the tune, which has since achieved jazz standard status and today remains a very popular tune among jazz and gypsy swing musicians.

My arrangement in B11th is designed to capitalize of the beautiful dominant chord sounds afforded by this tuning and the influence of the beautiful single note runs Django played on his final version of Nuages, performed on electric guitar.

The B11th tuning is essentially a detuned version of the A6th tuning popularized by Leon McAuliffe and other Western Swing players. The top four open strings are identical to the A6th tuning. However, B11th also offers lower register, beautiful voicings of B dominant 7th, 9th and 11th chords. In general, slant positions are a bit less common in B11th than some other tunings. The six-string version of the tuning commonly uses either a B note or a C# on string six. This arrangement uses C# in the bass.
